hello, im using XP Pro, not Vista, but this is the only forum i could find so
here is my XP Pro question.
my nephew stayed the weekend and had access to my laptop. now when i begin a
URL address in IE7 i get as far as "w-" when suddenly im deluged with the
dubious opportunity to visit 'fetishgallery-' blah blah blah, im sure you get
the idea. im not a 'porn guy', but apparently my young nephew is. now, i
really dont like being in a business meeting and trying to access a website
while simultaneously denying any knowledge of this 'fetishgallery'. gah!
how do i eliminate these instant URL address prompts from my comp? i
uninstalled and reinstalled IE7, but that didnt matter. so then where are
these renegade URL addresses stored on my laptop so i may delete them and
return to normalcy. i do not wish to reformat my laptop. that being said, if
i need to reformat (no no no!), how do i backup my contacts in Outlook
Express?
thank you for any help in this regard. now if only someone could tell me how
to return my nephew for a refund...

Clear your 'autocomplete' entries, and perhaps turn it off for the address bar.
IE, tools menu, Options, Content tab...

helpful? click "Yes" button. Voting helps the web interface.

Here is a free software that will clear the entire list of typed URLs or selected URLs.
Just to keep your own list tidy.

The clear autocomplete enties has no impact on the URL list. Swiching off the
Autocomplete for URL's will work, but I like the autocomplete function when I
am typing URLs'. I just wish to clear out the ones that have been visited
that should not have been! How can I do this ?

I'm not sure if it is the same because I still use IE6 but look in the
registry at,
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\TypedURLs
delete the entries you don't want and re-number the ones left in order. You
could then export that key and the next time evil nephews come by you just
clear them and install your registry key.

Thank for the information, but this is only a very small subset of the URLS
in the drop down list (typicly less than 30 from what I can find out). This
is the names of URLS you have recently typed into the search box. It is not
the list of viewed URL's. The drop down list seems to be populated with the
list of viewed URL's which can be useful at times, but not in the 'Evil
Nephew' situation.
