errors in EVENTVWR

It all started when a Windows pop up appeared on my screen saying something
to the effect that Windows Media Center was causing a problem.. I am new at
this and should really have saved that message... In any case, I had indeed
been having some strange happening such as being unable to save on my
external drive, and lots sudden shutting down of applications and some total
freezing of computer. I followed the instructions in this popped up message
which sent me to the EVENTVWR and asked that check for a category 10005
errot. I did. From there, I was instructed to go to SERVICES.MSC and make
changes to stop Media Centre which again I did. My computer is working no
better and I am concerned about the large number I saw listed in EVENTVWR.
There were also some errors related to MsInstaller, and others. I want to
learn how to clear all of these errors. I have run all the procedures I know
of from both Windows and Norton. Norton has worked well for me in the past.
there was also a problem with Check it Diagnostic, after an update... Please
somebody sort me out!!!

Open event viewer, pick a catagory from the left sub-menu,actions,delete all,
dont save,go to the next one..Installer is at v3.1 download the update.

What Error / Warning reports ( if any ) appear in the System log in
Event Viewer when you last booted the machine?

Please post copies of all Error and Warning Reports appearing in
the System and Application logs in Event Viewer for the last boot. No
Information Reports or Duplicates please. Indicate which also appear in
a previous boot.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Control Panel,
Administrative Tools, and Event Viewer. When researching the meaning
of the error, information regarding Event ID, Source and Description
are important.

HOW TO: View and Manage Event Logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308427/en-us

Part of the Description of the error will include a link, which you
should double click for further information. You can copy using copy
and paste. Often the link will, however, say there is no further
information.
http://go.microsoft.com/fw.link/events.asp
(Please note the hyperlink above is for illustration purposes only)

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a
button resembling two pages. Click the button and close Event
Viewer. Now start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of
the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from
Event Viewer.

Okay, I had only been looking into the Application log as had been suggested
by that MS pop up. But below is one from the System, once I double clicked to
open it. If that is what you are wanting, I can copy many more...

there are actually so very many, it would take a long time to copy them all.
But I will if necessary (On this thread???)

There may be a lot of reports but how many occur at the time of the
last boot and how many of those are repeats which have occurred before.
It is the repeating errors which are of interest. Post the first six
which appear in the System log for the last boot. Reports from the
System log are generally more important but some from the Application
log can be.

This paragraph from my last post was intended to help you sort out what
was needed. "Please post copies of all Error and Warning Reports
appearing in the System and Application logs in Event Viewer for the
last boot. No Information Reports or Duplicates please. Indicate which
also appear in a previous boot."

The Error Report relaing to Time has no great signifance. Neither does
the Warning Report.
