Error Code 0x8007003 Back up on Windows 7 will not complete

I have been trying to back up my computer to an external hard drive. It starts for about 5 seconds then says Back up did not complete. I have tried to back up to a USB stick and that also will not work. I need the operating system since I did not get any disk with my computer. I am running Windows 7 Professional. Please help
