edge motion on touchpad

Here's the deal. The touchpad on my laptop used to have edge
motion...meaning it would scroll up/down or left/right if my finger followed
the lines on the bottom or side of the touchpad. My family has been using
the computer while visiting, and now I don't have that capability anymore.
Does anyone know how to restore the scrolling capabilities on my touchpad?
Thanks!

Try Control Panel/Mouse look for the tab dealing with your touchpad -
ensure a setting for Virtual Scrolling (or something like that) is enabled.

I went to Control Panel-Printers and Other Hardware-Mouse and it said it
could not find the Synaptics Pointing Device Driver. Does that mean
anything? I pressed ok and then it went to the mouse characteristics, but
there wasn't anything about scrolling. :( Thanks for trying. Does anyone
else have an idea? Thanks!!

Is the touchpad shown in Device Manager? If so, try removing it, then
reboot. Does Windows find it and reinstall it?

Hello,

Dig out the Drivers CD that should have come with your laptop and install
the mouse drivers from there.
