Dear Seniors,

I have a problem in my dynamic drive as it is not readable in my xp-pro
pc after i had transferred it to my pc with xp-home. During the process,
I did convert the drive to basic but without formatting. Realising that
its not working, i switch it back to dynamic and transferred back to my
xp-pro pc. Never did i expect....I can see the disk in explorer but
cannot access it as it kept prompting me to format. I can't format as i
still require the data.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

XP Home does not support dynamic disks. To convert a dynamic disk to a
basic disk requires that the data be removed.
What is the status of the dynamic disk when you see it in Disk Management?

You must create backups of important data, especially before attempting disk
removal or other operations.

Thanks for replying maincat.

The status i saw at disk management is..

layout-simple
type-dynamic
file system-blank(the other hd is showing ntfs)
status-unallocated space

though it indicates unallocated, but am quite sure the data is still
inside as i didn't go thru' any formatting process at all to wipe out
anything.
Puzzled..please help!!

Try using a file recovery program to retrieve the files.
