dvd drive problems

my dvd dvive icon does not appear in "my computer" or device manager,
and the drive doesn't open, (or only occasionally when i switch off
the computer and then start up again.) It happened very suddenly and I
don't know how to solve the problem

There are two plugs at the back of the drive. One is power and the other is
data.
Either may have come loose. Try to push them in. Does the drive exist in Bios.
Look for that with the DEL key pressed down as your machine start booting.
