I need my dvd drive back! I was using add or remove programs to
add/remove Windows components and I removed Sonic DVD and CD Burning.
I tried to get it back right away but was unsuccessful. I tried system
restore, but that didn't work. I have a TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-H652D
[CD-ROM drive]. When I try using add or remove programs to add it back
I find I am missing many files needed for reinstallation. The program
has been looking for the files in C:\WINDOWS\cmpnents\mediactr\i386,
but they aren't there. When I look in the windows directory I don't
see a cmpnents directory, but I do see one in the C:/ directory. There
is a mediactr.cab there. looking inside it I don't see the files I
need. I looked for my installation disk, but even if I could find
it, I'd need the DVD drive to use it. My computer is a Gateway GT5220
110. I don't think my computer even recognizes that I have a DVD
drive. I don't see it like I used to in My Computer.
