Windows NT Dual Nics for video and data

Rename my folders

I have several Terminal Services servers and I want the video traffic for rdp
to flow thru 1 nic and the network data to flow thru the other nic. I
thought I saw this somewhere online but can't seem to find it again. It's
supposed to improve performance. I have users that are complaining about
using a certain application on Terminal services that uses images and it is
really slow. The cpu and ram are ok and people who are accessing this app
from their local machines in the office have no performance issue. So I
narrowed it down to the video card on the server and the rdp video traffic
that transmitts the video to the user is colliding with the data on the nic
card.... Your thoughts? and help?
 
Graphic/image intensive applications do not run well on terminal
services. You can dual home servers (a pain in the arse in Windows).
You can also specify what NIC TS talks to by modifying your RDP-TCP
properties and specifying there. I would not expect a high amount of
performance increase if any.

By the way, TS completely bypasses the video card so doing anything with
that won't do any good.

What is "... dual home servers" ?

Also, When I Terminal Service onto the box and use the image application, I
can toggle between images with no problem(I am in the office where the
servers are). When a user from home Terminal Services onto the box, and they
use the same app and try to toggle, it is slow for the image to come up(a few
seconds and up to 30 seconds sometimes). Why is that?

single homed = 1 nics
dual homed = 2 nics
tri-homed = 3 nics

Don't do it. It does not work the way you think it does.
Jeff Pitsch said it is a "pain in the arse",...very true,...also an

Just wait till they try a video clip....

The "home user" is running over the internet. VPN will only run at the
slower "upload speed" of the connection,..which in most cases is around
500 - 700kbps (that is "k" not "m").

This means a LAN Speed of 100mbps (that is 100,000 kbps) is about 200 times
faster than the speed over the internet and if the LAN is a Gigabit LAN then
it is,...um,...well I could poke an eye out doing math in my head, but you
should get the idea.

Doing things removely over the Internet is over-marketed, over-rated, and
over-hyped.
The "era of Star Trek" has not begun,...by comparison we are still rubbing
two sticks together to start a laptop,..er..I mean fire.
