I have a drive that is showing up twice when I use Windows Explorer.
It has two different drive letters: F: and W: In Device Manager it
shows up only once, as W:.

I want it to be W:. I don't want it to show up twice in Explorer.

How can I fix this?

First discover what type of drive letter we deal with:
http://www.uwe-sieber.de/files/listdosdevices.zip

It shows all used drive letters and their 'DOS device name'.

Then we see if the letter points to a real, a subst, a network
or a different type of drive.

Greetings from Germany

Uwe

When in Windows Explorer and you right click the W drive and then click
"properties"
does the resulting displayed information show the W drive to be a networked
drive???

Wouldn't she be checking to see if F: is a networked drive? Since device
manager actually shows the W drive and not the F drive, I'm assuming that W
would be the actual installed drive and F being a networked drive.

Here's what I've got:
Internal Hard Drive #1 (boot drive): Drives C:, D:, L:.
Internal Hard Drive #2: Drive M:
Internal DVD/CD Drive #1: Drive N:
Internal DVD/CD Drive #2: Drive S:
Internal Floppy Drive: Drive A:
External USB Drive: Drives W:, R:, T:

In Explorer, I right-click > properties for W: -- It is a LOCAL DRIVE.
(I don't see "network" anywhere). W: is the first partition on the
USB External; R: and T: are logical partitions. I don't have a
network set up; this is a stand-alone desktop computer.

Again, I want to get rid of the errant F:-Drive references that show
up in my dialog boxes.

Thank you guys for helping! :-)
