System: Dell XPS-720

XP-Media 2005
Office 2007
Q6600 quad processor
Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic
4 GB memory (3 only recognized)
320 GB HD (only 43GB used)

I loaded DragonSpeaking began dictating. Program errored. Went to Nuance
web-site and followed the following instructions:

STEP ONE:
Backed up Registry (Nuance gave improper instructions)

Removed ctfmon.exe file & rebooted. Upon reboot received screen allowing
complete boot with new configuration. Next screen had three options: Normal
(which I presumed would cancel the new configuration), 2) Diagnostic and 3)
Special.

STEP TWO
Office 2007 (NO instructions by Nuance for 2007 so I used the 2003
instructions as follows:)

Add/Remove Programs: Change
Exand MS Office/Expand Excell and look for Text to Speech (There was none
there)

Expand Office Shared Features: (There was none there)

Expand Alternative User Input: (There was none there)

Expand Speech: (There was none there)

Expand Handwriting Component: (There was none there)

Expand Proofing Tools:

Expand French: English-French Translation mark "Not Available"
Expand Spanish: English-Spanish Translation mark "Not Available"

Office reconfigured.

STEP THREE:
Unregister Msctf.dll and Msimtf.dll

Confirmed via task manager that cftmon.exe was not showing.

STEP FOUR:
Additional Information (on the instructions from Nuance):

Because I could not find the speech files in Office 2007 I did the following:

Regional & Language Options/Languages/Details/Advanced:

Under System Configuration tab: turned off advanced text services.
Installed Services: (This was not an option even listed but was supposed to
be removed)

I went to the Newsgroups page and discovered that Office 2007 does not
support speech recognition. I went to Control Panel to "Speech" and sure
enough I still had speech.

Assuming that since Office 2007 did not support speech I reloaded
DragonSpeaking, configured my microphone and dictated 3 sentences. Played it
back and once more got the message that Dragon Speaking was corrupt or
something of that nature. This is when I discovered the inadequate method of
backing up the registery as I went looking for how to restore it. I simply
did a Restore to a restore point I had created prior to installing
DragonSpeaking 3 days ago.

My task manager shows the ctfmon file again and a search reveals the two
..dll files I uninstalled so I "presume" Restore put my registry back
correctly.

When I then tried to open Word I was stopped with the error that Zune plugin
had some problem and I disabled it.

QUESTIONS:

1) What is Zune?

2) Can anyone help me with DragonSpeaking?

3) Is there a compatibility issue with Office 2007 (I presume was written
for use with Vista) and using it in conjunction with XP-Pro (Media) and
DragonSpeaking?

4) How do I know my registry is correct? (I don't usually do registry stuff).

Thank you very much for any input or light anyone can shed on this.
