I have previously posted this in two other MS news groups seeking help at
two different times and yet no one has offered any help. Is Dr. Watson not a
part of Windows or is it just not supported? I am not trying to be smart but
perhaps if I am not posting this in the correct place someone could suggest
a forum.

SYSTEM: Window XP Home - SP2 - with ALL of the updates

I am suddenly getting (several times a week) an error window stating that
Dr. Watson has encountered an error and must close. I usually end up having
to log off and then back on again as the systems seems to hang after I
acknowledge the error.

Through the Control Panel/Admin. Tools/Event viewer, the 'error' description
was that the faulting application was 'drwtsn32.exe' and the faulting module
was 'dbhelp.dll', and something about the 'data base being locked'. I
searched the system drive for that particular .dll and I have five or six
copies (different version numbers) in various places. But I wonder if I can
replace the one that Dr. Watson needs and will that cure my problems?

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Bob

Thank you so much for a reply. I was beginning to think I had been put on a
"Do not answer him list!"

I mistyped the file name it should be 'dbghelp.dll'

Actually, the computer freezes and does not respond to mouse clicks. I must
Control-Alt-Delete to bring up the task manager and there I usually just log
off and then back on again and all seems well. I did search MS's data base
and found that there are quite a number of versions of this file, but I am
not very pc orientated to feel confident in just deleting the existing file
and reinstalling the same file version again from MS.

I, too, looked on my laptop and it doesn't have that file either.

Sorry about the typo...

Thanks again.

Bob
