Double-clicking no longer launches exe files on dvd-cdrom drive

Hi,

I suddenly realized that double-clicking on an executable file on my
cd's no longer launches the application, both on my dvd drive and on a
virtual drive. The files can be read perfectly. I tried to uninstall my
drive and reinstall it, it did not solve the problem.

This does not happen of a usb drive. So this looks like the registry is
messed up at some point. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks

....could be a broken filetype association, ...could be a virus, ....could be
lots of things :-)

Indeed. Having ruled out a virus, a broken exe file association and
having noticed that the double clicking does work for some disks and not
for others (all work on a different machine, so quality of disk is not
involved) without any rational that I can see, does it narrow the options?

Thanks
