My taskbar has started disappearing.

That's the entire taskbar: Start button, quick launch icons, buttons
for running programs, system tray. The desktop wallpaper shows beneath
the open window.

After a few minutes, it comes back.

Any idea why this happens?

Ernie, rt click the Taskbar and select Properties. Uncheck the Autohide
the Taskbar box if checked. Also Lock the Taskbar and Keep Taskbar above
other Windows.

Is "Auto-hide the taskbar" checked?

It sounds to me like Explorer (NOT Internet Explorer!) is crashing. You
might find some clues in the Event logs.

Cheers,

Have you ever noticed that if something is advertised as 'amusing' or
'hilarious', it usually isn't?
