Before going to the extreme of turning off DEP you might consider checking to
be sure that the problem isn't being caused by a bad add-on for IE. If you
want to check this possibility, go into the Programs tab of Internet Options
and click on the Manage Add-Ons button. There is a lot of functionality
packed into the ensuing dialogs, so be careful, but also be thorough. You
could try disabling all non-MS add-ons, testing, re-enabling one-at-a-time,
testing, etc.
The fact that DEP is shutting IE7 down is an indication of a fairly serious
problem. I'd fix the problem instead of killing DEP.
