I have 2 HDD's and I have deleted the slave HD in disk manager.
Hardawre manager says the HD is working but Windows xp cannot find it.
There is no data to keep on the HD.
How do I get it back on the register.

What does deleted in Disk Managager mean?
Perhaps you need to reformat/partition it, in Disk Manager

As long as there is no data on the drive you need...
just go back to disk management and recreate a partition there.

once it's formatted, it should automatically assign a drive letter
(or you can specify as desired)

The HD does not appear anywhere in disc manager.
how do I create a partition .

If the drive is still working then it should appear in disk management. How
did you delete it from disk management in the first place. You haven't
disturbed the ribbon cable to the drive have you. Is it a physical drive or
an extended partition. Is it a IDE drive or SATA. Does the drive show up in
the bios during boot.

It is a seperate IDE HD.
It shows in BIOS, and device manager says it works ok.
I was deleting 6 partitions on the HD and somehow the HD no longer shows as
a volume at all.

Hi,
Do you have a method of booting the PC other than XP just to check the drive
is visible. I mean a win98 boot disk or a CD live version of a linux
distribution. (anything like that) Just to be sure the drive is acessible.
See http://www.bootdisk.com/bootdisk.htm

You can't!

the drive needs to be detected by the OS in order to function.

Check your cables and jumpers.

Does the bios detect the drive???

If you can see the drive in "disk management" now after you have reinstalled
windows are you not able to right click on the drive & use the create
partition wizard.??
Let me know what happens in Linux.
