You mean "downgrade."
The choice is yours, but I'll point out several things:
1. Whenever any new operating system comes out, you hear a lot of
things (for example in the newsgroups) about how terrible it is, and
recommendations to stick with the old operating system, to wait for
SP1 before getting the new one and so on. That's because the people
who have problems are the vocal ones. You don't see people coming to
places like newsgroups to tell you about their wonderful experiences,
you see those who have problems, looking for help. As someone else
once said, hang around a transmission shop for a while, and you'll
think that all cars have transmission problems.
2. *Most* of the problems you see reported in the newsgroups are the
result of someone running Vista with inadequate hardware, or not
knowing how to use Vista properly. In most cases, those people with
problems get solutions to their problems.
3. Vista isn't perfect. No operating system is perfect, whether or not
it's new. An operating system is a good one when its problems are few
and far between, when they affect few people, and when their impact is
usually not very severe.
4. I've been running the released version of Vista Ultimate since
November. I did an upgrade from XP Professional, not a clean
installation. My personal experience is that it's extremely stable,
that all of my software (except for a few minor utilities) work with
it, and that I have had no problems with it at all. I don't like
everything about it, but nothing is ever perfect. By and large, I like
it, and I'm glad that I upgraded.
But nobody can tell you what to do. You have to decide for yourself.
