My WinXP cursor continually blinks between cursor and hourglass. I
assume there's some running process causing this. How do I track down
that process and thereafter hopefully get5 rid of the problem?

First make sure that the computer is completely virus/malware-free:

If the machine is clean and still has the problem, do clean-boot
