CTRL+C

Nick

Hey there,

Ever since I've had vista, CTRL+C routinely fails, and I'm not just
imagining this. I don't get it happen once in XP, but in Vista it happens
several times a day and is extremely frustrating. The only solution, do it
again...

"Do it twice incase it didn't work the first time"

Any idea what could cause this? Apart from Vista being a steaming pile
of **** of course...

I wonder if some TSR might be stealing it?

I have the problem (since using Vista) that if any of the keys "Q",
"W", "E", "R", "T" or "Y" are pressed too quickly in succession, then
the system only registers one key press. I could easily have blamed
Vista, but the problem was eventually traced down to a bad membrane
connection in the keyboard.

Soaybe your keyboard itself is on the fritz, and it's just "luck of the
draw" that the problems started showing up shortly after installing
Vista. If possible, try plugging in a different keyboard, and se if that
helps. If you are using a USB keyboard, then perhaps adjusting the speed
settings of your USB ports in the BIOS could also help.

Unfortunately not as this is happening on 2 separate systems. I
appreciate what you are saying though of course, but nope, I would have
thought of that already.

Hi there,

Nope, I've been a professional software engineer for the past 8 years so
I'm quite confident that I know what is running on my PC, also this is
happening on any Vista PC I've used so far. The place I notice it the most
is from Internet Explorer, copying the contents of the address bar to the
clipboard, it's constantly not registering and forcing me to do it again.

Very frustrating as you can imagine.

So what's running on those two PCs that isn't running on a third PC that's
working here?

Are you running SP1? This may be relevant if you're not running SP1:

But on 65 million other Vista systems the problem does not appear.

Maybe your computer just doesn't like you?
 
A few people I know have also experienced this behaviour with Vista, CTRL+C
doesn't always work.
