I find this error in the event viewer application tab:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: crypt32
Event Category: None
Event ID: 11
Date: 25-11-2007
Time: 08:54:23
User: N/A
Computer: XXXXXXXXXXXX
Description:
Failed extract of third-party root list from auto update cab at:
<http://www.download.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update/v3/static/trustedr/en/authrootstl.cab>
with error: A required certificate is not within its validity period when
verifying against the current system clock or the timestamp in the signed
file.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

I have tried to download the most recent root certificate packase from
Windows Update, but I still get this error.
How can I fix this issue?
Thanks
Anders

Do you see the logs of windows update ???

it seems to be a problem with the certificate.

Hi Sue Mac.
No - and I really dont get it because the error message is not saying wheter
the required certificate is on the pc or in the cab-file it is trying to
extract it (Failed extract of third-party root list from auto update cab).
The only thing I could do to get rid of the error message is going to
Add/Remove programs - Add/Remove Windows programs - and then uncheck "Update
root certificates" (to the best of my recollection - can't enter this in
writing moment being only a restriced user)

I'm sorry to say I have found no technical references advising how to fix
this issue. If you come across one - please do not hesitate to let me know.

Thanks, Anders

Hello Anders: I see the same error only if Windows Live One Care starts.
Apparently this program is the culprit because if I block WLOC from loading
then I don't get this error. Do you have WLOC, and if so, is it on a trial
basis?.... Just a thought.... Fred
