Windows 2000 Continuous Reboot

Hello All,

So my Compaq Presario 5000 (running on Windows 2000 Pro) has been
continuously rebooting for the last couple of days just after the
system is loaded. I am able to access safe mode without this happening,
so I disabled automatic restart on system failure in order to be able to
see the associated stop code. What I was given is:

0xC000001E (0xC0000044, 0x8049FD5B, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

This is about the extent of my technical abilities/ know-how, and I am
unsure what this stop code refers to or how to proceed! I would be most
appreciative for any suggestions or guidance on how to resolve this
problem.

* A little background that may or may not be pertinent: I haven't used
this computer for several months due to gaining access to a better,
work provided one. The past week, I have begun using it again, and have
uninstalled some programs, and loaded others, but dont' -believe -that I
removed any windows components. I attempted the option to return to a
previous configuration, but this did not appear to help. I
unfortunately do not have a rescue disk or the the 200 Pro disk*

You can try this:
1. Remove the cable that connects your machine to the Internet.
2. Boot into Safe Mode.
3. Click Start / Run / msconfig {OK}
4. Untick each and every task under the Startup tab.
5. Click the Services tab, then tick the box that lets
you hide all Microsoft services.
6. Untick all remaining services.
7. Click OK.

You should now be able to boot into Normal Mode. Your
challenge will be to restore the various services and tasks
until you find the culprit that prevents your machine from
starting normally.

Note: Msconfig.exe is a WinXP tool. You can get a copy from
