Computer says disks C and F are low and windows memory is critically low. and I have the same stuff

I have windows xp home edition, got it from friend. Tells me disk C and F are close to full. Do disk clean up, but not enough. AND says window is critically low on memory space. Don't know what programs to erase and keep
