My computer is doing the same thing! It just started yesterday! It randomly shuts itself down. I have an HP Laptop with Vista. The motherboard was replaced last year, (defective straight from factory). Everything else is good in it. I can't keep it on long enough to do ANYTHING with it, updating or anything. I can't keep it on long enough to run my anti-virus scan to see if this was a virus. Then once I turn it back on I get that, your computer unexpectently shut down, check the disk drives, etc. HELP ME PLEASE!!! I need it fixed by Monday morning (today is Saturday morning here). I have to use my laptop at work Monday, but right now I don't see that happening. I'm fully prepared to do a full system restore if that'll fix the issue. I HAD restore points, but something happened and now they are gone (gotta run the anti-virus scan once the computer stays on, think that might be a virus).

PLEASE HELP ME! My computer is only 2 years old, its gotta a lotta life ahead of it.:).

shut down problems

I am having the same problem,it just started recently,my computer just goes in total shut down for no reason. It will happen every few minutes to a half hour or hour, with no ryme or reason. I have to wait and then power it back on where it then wants to run the scan disk for not shutting down properly.? Why is this happening and how do I fix it? Thanks.

Vista shuts down for no reason

Please help! I have Windows Ultimate and it is an HTPC (Home Theater PC).

It has three tuners (HDTV Wonder, AverMedia A180, AverMedia 1500 MCE). It

has an HIS 2600 Pro video card.

When watching Vista MCE shows - it will just shutdown - not restart - the PC

actually turns off. The BIOS is set to start up on a power failure - so it

starts back up.

I guess my question is why would my PC just decide to turn off? The CPU is

a Quad core Q6600 - it is not running hot. The PC is home built and is an

Intel DP35DP motherboard.

This has only started recently - this did not happen before. I have no idea

what is causing it. Please help! I have checked the logs - there is nothing

- other than a log event saying the PC did not shut down correctly.

Please help! Thanks

The Power supply is new and running at 500 watts. The machine runs cool and

happy - the all of a sudden (and almost every hour between 8-11 PM - very

weird) it shuts down without warning. I hear the CPU fan spin up and then it

shuts down.

I have no idea what happens at that exact moment as thee is nothing in the

logs.

Please help!

A new PSU can be very well defective.

A new PSU can be very well defective. Have been know to do that quite =

often even when running cool. The give away is when the Hard Drive spins =

up . Spin up of the Hard Drive is the sign when system will shut down.

Vista shuts down (3)

I have a Toshiba laptop, an HP desktop and one I built, all with Vista. They all un-expectedly re-start with a blue warning screen that I don't have time to read but the first line says it must shut down.
