Hi,
I have a compressed folder which was created on Windows XP but renamed to
TLDEDI.ZGD.
Because the extension has changed it is no longer recognized as a zip file,
so, because i cannot just double-click on it, i right-click to do an Open and
then a "Select program from list" but Compressed Folders does not show in the
list.
Is there a way to extract the files from this compressed folder without
having to rename it?
Thanks,
John

Thanks, that should work. But is there a way that i can get "Compressed
Folder" to appear in the Open With/Choose Program list?

It's best to reply *after* doing your homework. When done, "Compressed
Folder" should appear in that list automatically.

Thank you, yes, though i do not want to associate the extension ZGD with the
"Compressed Folder" program... I'd rather just have the program available in
"Choose Program" list... is there a way to add or remove programs from the
"Choose Program" list?

Thank you

However, that's the only way to open your .ZGD file by double-click what
you were trying to do according to your original post. And this was also
the appropriate answer to your original question (quote):

The item "Compressed Folder" is available in that list when a file type
has been associated as described - although not really necessary since
it can be opened by double-click anyway.

Sure. http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_o.htm#openwith
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/openwithadd.htm
http://www.dougknox.com/
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/utils/xp_open_with.htm

Note, however, that a DLL provides that function rather than an EXE file.
Therefore, it's not that easy to *globally* add the "Compressed Folder".
Anyway, good luck.
