Compatibilty version Between Back-End and Front-End exchange Serve

I have to migrate to a new hardware server for Exchange.
Is it a problem if my new Exchange as a Windows 2003 R2 version whereas my
OWA has already an Windows Enterprise SP1 ?

Hello Benedicte,

Is the running Exchange also DC? Running Exchange on DC's is not recommended.

Additional for domain preparation see if this applies to your environment:

Install the server with OS and install Exchange on the new one, during Exchange
install at it to the existing exchange site, then move mailboxes and public
folders, create MX record in DNS for the new one, check Recipient update
service pointing to the correct DC. Also if used check Firewall settings
for the new exchange.

No, It is on a member server not on a DC.
