Do all of this "fun stuff" include re-installing the sound card drivers
form the motherboard cdrom or its utility cdrom? If this has not been done,
then do so to get the sound working. But if the drivers have already been
installed, then check Device Manager for any error or warning marks and
Event Viewer for reports.

yep tried it a few times

If you dont have the sound card drivers that came on the cd with your
PC, they you will have too look for them via the Internet.

Ghostrider asked the questions: Anything irregular being reported in
Device Manager or Event Viewer? In addition, it is an onboard sound
chip or a peripheral sound card? Unclear from your original post.

it has a ! on the multimedia audio controller.. when i go into the properties
it says it isnt installed, and i have both right now an on board and a sound
blaster sound card neither one works and i tried to intstall the drivers says
it needs to be verified by windows, but it dont say the now...

There can only be one active sound device working at the same time.
Either remove the Soundblaster card and keep the onboard sound chip
enabled. Or disable the onboard sound in bios setup and keep the
Soundblaster card in its slot. They are mutually cancelling each
other by booking the same resources.
