Close more than one item, but not entire application

From an application's taskbar button, with a few clicks I can close either an
entire application or one item open in that application. But is there any
way to select and close several items with one sequence of clicks and/or
keystrokes?

I have read your post several times and I cannot envision exactly what you
are asking. Since nobody else has responded, maybe they are having the same
problem understanding. Please list an actual example and be specific.

Not that I know of. Do you have an example app to refer to? Even if it might
be possible in one or a few apps, I don't know of any. I also don't
understand what you mean by "application's taskbar button".

It should only take one click to close a file (in Word, for instance) or to
close the entire application. You might get Save prompts, but that's it.

Hold down Ctrl key and click on the taskbar buttons then right any button and choose
Close

Good Luck, Ayush.
