Galaxy S5 Chrome freezes for 30 seconds sporadically in no set pattern.
I have wiped the cache etc o no avail. This issue is all over the web.
Chrome came installed in this phone so I cannot totally uninstall and reinstall it..

It would consume some of my 15 GB storage to install another browser along with Chrome that came with the phone.

How much space is available on the phone there may not be enough for it to function correctly may also want to close running background running programs. Check to make sure they are not throttling you.

Reset Chrome
Go to Setting
Apps
Scroll through the list select Chrome and select
Select Storage
Select Manage Space
Select Clear All Data
Click OK

Open Chrome and see how it functions.

This phone has a slot for extended storage. Install an SD card and you'll have more storage. I don't know how the phone will handle installation of apps onto the extended storage device. Maybe something in settings.

I had cleared the cache but did not use "Manage Storage" and cleared data.
It seems to not freeze now so thank you.
I have only used 50% of my storage and do have an expansion card for photos and whatever the phone will allow me to send to it.
Off topic but, I have to upgrade due to age although it functions well in every aspect.
I love Windows 10 but they are out of the phone business. I like F & F.
What do you think of moving from Android to Apple?

app version 66.0.3359.158

OS ver 6.0.1;SM - G900V build/MMB29M
I went to the store and clicked uninstall which gave me update which seemed to reinstall it. It is part of the OS not a download.
I now have no bookmarks and it still hangs.
I have also reset the phone. As I read the web this issue with Chrome is quite prevalent.

With Droid yes.
OS ver 6.0.1;SM - G900V build/MMB29M
Might be time for an upgraded phone since they have released version eight.
As far as the question on Droid or iPhone I use Droid and if I could of afforded it at the time would of gotten the iPhone.
