Change image order in Windows Photo Viewer?

I was wondering if anyone knows if it's possible to change to order Windows Photo Viewer loads images in? To clarify, when using a large (or whatever size) icon view in a folder, when I hit the 'next' or 'previous' button, rather than displaying the image to the left or right of the current one, Photo Viewer loads the one above or beneath it. Basically the program is reading from top to bottom in vertical columns, rather than left to right in a horizontal line. Is there any way to fix this?
