CD ROM not detected from Windows XP SP2 Explorer

IDE CD-ROM visable in Window device manager. Tried to renistall driver
w/o success since CD-Rom is not accessable. Any suggestions. This is a
new Internal IDE CD-Rom that works properly in another identical lap-
top.
