CD-ROM issue

Hi everyone,
This is something I've honestly never seen before. One of my bosses got a
new laptop recently that I loaded up and got configured for him. I am now
trying to wipe the old laptop by formatting and installing a fresh copy of
windows on the computer for later use. The only problem is the computer
wasn't letting me boot from the windows cd. At first I thought that maybe
the CD drive was going bad, but when it loads into windows, all cds auto
play and are able to be read. When I go into the BIOS of the computer, I
look under boot order and in the first spot it says "! CD-ROM/DVD Drive"
With that big exclamation point at the beginning. Why is there a warning by
the cd drive in the bios and how can I fix it? If anyone knows, it would be
a big help.

Contact the laptop vendor for questions about the hardware they
manufacture. Windows XP has no bearing on the issue.
