Hi, guys.
I'm really frustrated. I can play dvds and cds on my CD-ROM drive, (WIN XP)
and I can save files to the disk direct from, say, Word and Photoshop, but
when I try and copy files from explorer to the dsk, keeps telling me there is
no disk in the drive even though this is the same disk I have saved a word
file to from word. Device manager and other bits tell em that the drive and
its driver ae working correctly. the drive is a Philips DVD+RW DO1. I have
had trouble with one disk which locked itself in and I had to use the papeer
clip to open it up, but apart from that I can think of no reason why it is
happening.
HELPPPP!
Cheers
Steve

Usually you can't write direct to CD unless you have third party software
installed & running.
Check the settings in whatever software allows it from Word or Photoshop and
allow/add it from Explorer.

Hi 'Not Me' (unusual handle!)
I thank you for your reply, and willl now go and experiment to see if I can
do what you have suggested, but actually I have no idea how to, so in case I
fail, would you please provide some pointers?
Many thanks

Usually there is software from the CD maker that allows the CD-RW to be used
like a floppy drive.
I don't believe it works with CD-R only CD-RW. But I may remember wrong...
As I understand it allows writing to the CD in an open session format.
There are 2 versions I am familiar with, InCD and Direct CD.
They are from different providers, but both do essentially the same
function.
I believe this article will tell you more than I can.
