Hi I'm running windows xp media centre 2005 on dell dimension 5150. I can't
find my com ports in device manager and when trying to connect my phone with
nokia pc suite, this failed stating unable to locate serial port or something
similar. Can anyone help please?

The new PlugNPlay feature (for standyby) is fighting the old nokia app. I
would give "Compatibility Mode" a try.

How does this phone physically connect to the PC? Often, these use a USB
type cable that requires that you install a driver, which creates a mapping
to a com port. And that port sometimes doesn't exist if the cable and
phone aren't connected to the PC.

I've connected successfully via both serial cable DKU-5 and bluetooth in the
past. Now having recently reinstalled PC Suite, and trying to install and
configure the cable drivers, I get the message "Can't list serial
communication ports".

My main issue is even without these installed, shouldn't I be able to see
and open the Ports branch in Device Manager? For some reason, I have no
Ports branch. Does this mean that they have somehow been inadvertently
disabled or removed?

Sorry, totally lost me. I've heard of PlugNPlay but don't know what it is
exactly and how/where do I access "compatibility mode"?
