Hi...

I have just noticed that any program I donwload - say, for instance, an
update to an existing program I have - when the downloaded file it
double-clicked to begin setup, nothing happens. Thinking that perhaps
Windows Installer was corrupt, I reinstalled that - but the same problem
still exists.

Anybody have any ideas on this one?

Thanks!

Infoman

Enable windows installer logging as per http://support.microsoft.com/?id=314852

Check the installer logs to find where the windows installer terminates.
Also use filemon and regmon from http://www.sysinternals.com and check where
the failures occur during the installation process. If you get too many
access failures run through the secedit command mentioned in
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=313222

Hope this helps
