of xp, tried to use a batch file to delete them but it was ,,,, urinating in
the wind(i didnt want to cuss here), could someone tell me how to get rid of
these files short of having to reinstall my operating system?

Recovery Console would do it from a boot to the setup cd. You might also try
Autoruns.
AutoRuns for Windows v8.61:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/SystemInformation/Autoruns.mspx
How to install and use the Recovery Console in Windows XP:
