I'm using Windows XP Prof, SP2 at work. I use Favorites menu in Windows
Explorer and "Microsoft Websites" is one of the entries. I didn't add it to
Favorites and every time I delete it, it comes back the next time I open
Windows Explorer. It also shows up in IE7 links. How can I make
"Microsoft Websites" disappear permanently from my Favorites list in Windows
Explorer?

Did you install Windows Live Messenger, Windows Live Mail, Windows Live
Toolbar, Windows Live Writer, or any other Windows Live application?

Thanks, PA Bear. I didn't install anything like that but I will check today
and see if I can find them. It's a new computer that our IT profs set up for
me. I'll look in Add/Remove Windows Components? Shall I delete them if I
find any?

Better to ASK the IT pro, as there is a GPO implemented on that computer
you may do not have the pe4rmissions/privileges to do such a thing.
HTH.

I checked my computer and found one component named Windows NT Messenger and
deleted that. I did a search for Windows Live and found two files:
logo_windowslive.gif and
http://images.intellitxt.com/ast/al...w.vibrantmedia.com/whatisIntelliTXT.asp?ipid=
I have NOT deleted those.
I ran gpedit.msc and enabled "Do not allow Windows Messenger to be run" and
"Do not automatically start Windows Messenger initially".
I then rebooted and "Microsoft Websites" still shows up in my Favorites menu
on Windows Explorer.
Any other suggestions?

Consult your IT profs, please.
