Hi,
Can anyone help I am trying to defrag my ‘C’ drive, before turning on the
disk protection in steady state.
When I go into control panel>performance& maintenance>rearrange items on
hard disk I get this message-
“Windows cannot find ‘C: Program Make sure you typed the name correctly,
then try again .To search for a file click the start button and then click
searchâ€.
I have done this and a lot of files come up but none match what I want.
Also if I try to use the system restores function it will come on but I can
no longer select any date on the calendar for it to revert to.
I have uninstalled steady state and the same thing still happen I have ran
the free pc scan from Microsoft and it has repaired a lot of registry problem
and still I can’t get the two Items working dose anyone know what the
problem could be?

I think you are missing some components
Open CMD as Administrator...run this command

> sfc /scannow

it scan your system n restore the all missing binaries.

To defrag any drive. Go to Driver *Properties *and move to *Tools *tab.
and click on *Defragment Now...*

Choose appropriate drive and try to start.

Type *rstrui* in Run dialog box and hit enter to Launch System Restore
Wizard.
OR
Go to *Control Panel >> System and Maintenance >> System*
Choose System Protection from left pane and pass the UAC prompt.
Here choose appropriate option to launch System Restore.

Thanks Ramesh,
System restore is working now but defrag is a different matter when I try to
defrag any drive in Properties and move to Tools tab and click on defragment
Now this message comes up,
“Defragmenter is not installed on your computer†where do I go to get it
back on.
I am using XP pro with sp3 installed.
Regards,
Martin.
