Cannot update windows update getting a error msg code # 80070005" "

I am on Vista Home Premium it is not letting me install updates Gateway PC........... it is saying windows cannot search for updates and giving me a code # 80070005. Does anyone know what this error message means. I tried fix it and its still not working.
