I have an Acer Aspire laptop with Vista. I use webmail for my email, and
using aircard for internet connection and using internet explorer. When I
try to download an attachment I cannot find it where it was supposedly saved
to. When I try to find it from recent downloads, it says shortcut not found.
If I try to open a pdf file directly it will show that it is saving the
attachment in a temporary folder, but the file never appears. I never had
these problems with windows XP. Any help is greatly appreciated

Where are you trying to save the attachments?

Vista uses a different file structure than XP does. Those familiar folder
names you may be used to, like "My Documents", "Documents & Settings", etc.
are not folders in Vista. They are junction points, and are used for legacy
programs which were written to utilize the XP file structure. They will
redirect the programs to use the equivalent Vista folders.
If you keep the protected operating system files hidden, you won't see them.

In Vista......
Documents & Settings -> \Users
My Documents -> \Users\youraccount\Documents
My Music -> \Users\youraccount\Music
Application Data -> \Users\youraccount\AppData
etc.
