I am having problems trying to create a System Image of my Surface Pro.

The program seems to be working but then sends up a message:

The backup failed.

There was a failure in preparing the backup image of one of the volumes in the backup set. (0x807800C5)

Additional information:

The process cannot access the file because another process has locked a portion of the file. (0x80070021)

The volume on which he backup fails is the first volume - the EFI system partition.

The backup is set to save on my Dlink NAS, which works fine for my File History backups.

I thought that somehow my anti-virus software might be to blame, but I'm not running any third party anti-virus software.

I also thought that if I started up in Safe Mode with networking that might avoid the problem, but backup is not allowed to run in Safe Mode.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks,

Alan

P.S. I think I have misunderstood the problem: if I repeat the attempted backup but instead of using my NAS I plug a drive into the USB socket, then my backup runs normally (and I can then copy / move the backup onto the NAS). Looks like it might be a D-link problem perhaps: the D-link box is a ShareCenter DNS-320.

P.P.S. Although the DNS-320 was purchased from a major retailer only last week, the firmware was version 1.0 and 2 years old. Updating to v 1.01 appears to have solved the problem: at least for one PC.
