Run the command prompt as administrator. Right-click the shortcut, select
Run as Administrator from the context menu.

Charlie42,
Thank you. Where is the short cut?

Start Menu > All Programs > Accessories > Command prompt.

With Vista, if you install to Program Files, it breaks many programs.
Install it somewhere else and avoid the headaches.

So I install it under c:\users\charles\something
and then I install it under c:\users\somebodyelse\something
and then I ...
question: Do I install it once for each user?

Bad, bad, really bad advice you idiot.
Please explain the factual evidence behind that stupid recommendation, ok?

I strongly suggest you let it install to it's default location.
Frank

Ummm...no.

You must right-click and click "Run as administrator."

He already knew where the command prompt was, because he was already trying
to use it.

Maybe not MANY programs, but games (TES4: Oblivion to name one) and other
programs that write to the Programs directory.

Please don't insult me. Or I will take legal action against you.

Blow me as*hole!
You're an idiot...LOL!
Frank

Many programs write data to the folder they are installed into.
Under Vista, in the Program Files folder, that is against the Nanny's rules.
So installing to a different directory allows the program to work as
designed, not the way MS wants it to.
I have most of my programs installed outside of Program Files, and they all
work just fine.
Maybe you need the Vista Nanny to decide what program can write what and
where I don't.

Pay attention. He asked for the shortcut, and I told him where it was.
Remember, in Windows the same thing can usually be done in more than one
way.

Sorry diskhead, but I don't think you know more Vista or your software
than the code writers who actually wrote the code do.
Default has a purpose. Default is faster and more stable than trying to
outsmart the OS and/or the software you're using.
Maybe that's a clue as to why you and a few other fukkin idiot losers
can't seem to get their one little install of Vista to run properly huh?
Hahahaha...LOL!
Frank

Ummm...ok. Are you serious? Swearing? You must really be p1ss3d 0ff at

No flaming allowed. I have reported you and closed the topic.

And banned you.

And stole your gf.

I've tweaked it so it runs fine, I just plain don't like it.
I prefer to boot to XP because 'it just works'!
