Cannot access newsgroups

My laptop has Vista, but my desktop PC runs XP. Suddenly (like today) the PC
cannot log on to Windows Newsgroups via Help and Support. When I get to
Windows Newsgroups and click on "Go to Windows Newsgroups" it simply opens
"Windows XP Home Page"

The address bar shows
http:/www.microsoft.com/windows/products/windowssxp/default.mspx

I've never had trouble before, and (as you can see) the laptop connects ok.
Anyone any idea what has gone wrong?

Hi AllenH,

It could be that the redirect in XP's Help function no longer points to a
valid address, so it goes to the default product page.

It'd be far simpler to just set up a newsreader for this, see:

Try Windows Mail, that has a proper news reader.

It now seems to have corrected itself, so all is well. Thanks for the advice
though. If I have more trouble, I'll do as you say. Many thanks.
