In the follow directory:

C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local
Settings\Identities\{C83676A5-5069-4CC9_A83C-52A8069E143}\Microsoft\Outlook
Express

I have found over 200 files of the type .dbx that point to newsgroups that I
may have accessed over 3 years ago. Some of them are over 500 megs (yes 1/2
BG) in size. Like alt.kodak.dbx This folder has grown to 4 GB in size and
I need the space.

If I am no longer interested in that newsgroup, Can I delete the respective
..dbx file. I understand the problem about deleting things like inbox.dbx.

Thanks in advance,

Tom D.

Open Outlook Express, click Tools-Options-Maintenance-Clean Up Now.
Then set OE to store them for five days, then delete them.

Sorry, I posted wrong instructions; under 'Clean up now' click Browse to
select newsgroups, select which newsgroup to clean up, Then click Delete.
Sorry for confusion. I tried to remember correct steps rather than looking.

After deleting content, click on Compact to reduce DBX file size.

Yes. They're normally deleted automatically but sometimes they're not.
