Can no longer write to or even format CD/DVD. 'Error Code COOD10DA'

Vista 32-bit, with AVG security, and using TDK DVD+RW. Tried to burn a file from within Media Player, got the message 'Error Code COOD10DA'. Downloaded and ran the Fixit utility, it said it had resolved a problem concerning 'media not being writable',
then invited me to format a data disk. Came back with the message 'Unable to complete the format'. Can read disks OK.
