Can I restore the backuped images after I change the CPU and motherboard?

Hi,all.

My previous installed CPU is AMD XP 2000 and the motherboard is the
corresponding motherboard, I have backuped my customerized images for the
system and installed application software previously. Now I changed the
hardware, CPU as INTEL CORE E420, and motherboard as 945GCT, Can I restore
the backuped images based on that platform (the harddisk is not changed)? If
I can , what can I do for it? And what are the steps? I really don't want to
re-install the windowsXP , the updates and all the application software any
more.

You can, but Windows won't load until you do a repair install to set
things right, including the installation of all the new drivers you
will be needing.

If you took your petrol engine out of your car and replaced it with a hybrid
system do you think it work work without futher modifications, of course
not.

If you do manage to install the images you will, at best, have to do a
repair install and even this may not work properly. You would probably be
better off if you did a new installation. You may like to look at nLite (
http://www.nliteos.com/index.html )
and especially RyanVM's Windows XP Post-SP2 Update Pack
(http://www.ryanvm.net/msfn/updatepack.html) if you don't want to do all the
updates and patches.
