BSOD IRQL_Not_Less_Or_Equal

I have been getting a lot of driver issues, BSOD IRQL.. and BSOD Driver
IRQL... When I was trying to update drivers for sound card, multimedia
card, etc. I would get "Data is invalid" message. I went through the
registrys trying to increase permissions. Then I proceeded to repair my
windows XP and I got the BSOD IRQL_Not_Less_Or_Equal Stop: 0x0000000A
(0x805769AB, 0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x805769AB) when the Installing Devices.
I cannot get to safe mode to disable hardware. I went to the MS website
however, it does not cover how to address this problem when repairing Windows.

I am trying to avoid reformating my hard drive with a fresh XP installation,
however, I think I will get the same error.

Any suggestions? This has been frustrating. I have been at it for more
than 2 weeks trying to fix this problem.

What is your computer make and model?

What exactly is your Windows XP system CD?

Have you tried disconnecting all hardware except keyboard, mouse and
monitor?

Is it a laptop or desktop? Do you have a second computer where you could
install the drive from the problem computer as a slave / second drive?

Hope this helps.

Soundblaster Audigy 2 - I have had it for more than 3 years. When I lost my
hard drive a few months ago I had to replace it and reinstall widnows. It
seems as though this has created a problem ever since. I also have a Diamond
xtreme video capture card.

I have a BYOC about 4 years old. Pentium 4. 1 GB RAM. Audigy 2 sound card,
ATI Radeon 9600 Video Card, Diamond Xtreme Video Capture card.

I did successfully connect the main drive to my laptop and have been copying
files to the laptop as a backup. Have additional hard drive and external
hard drive but cannot access because the computer is stuck in a windows
repair mode and cannot get to safe mode to backup data.

The odd thing when all of this was happening was I was getting "new
installed hardware screens for my VIA IDE Controller. Also had yellow
asterisks in Device Manager for multimedia audio controller (assuming it was
for the Audigy 2), multimedia video controller (assuming it was for the
Xtreme board), the firewire port (located on the Audigy 2 card). Whenever I
would try to update the drivers for any of these, even with the original disc
or downloaded drivers from manufacturer's sites, I would get "data is
invalid" error message. That is what led me to change the permissions on the
registry keys. After following the instructions on a number of websites for
this problem I would still get the BSOD problem with either IRQL_Not_Less..
or Drivers_IRQL_...

I also removed both cards and rebooted and got the same BSOD messages. I
installed them on different slots as well with no success.

Many thanks for your response.

I have tried these but cannot get out of the loop of BSOD when devices are
being loaded on Windows Repair process. We keep getting request to insert
disk to finish the repair and that's it.

My feeling is you are going to have to reinstall and then dealing with
any problems as you find them. There is a preferred sequence and perhaps
this is where you went wrong the last time you installed.

Just tried to restart the windows repair, not system recovery, after taking
both sound card and video capture card out and still had the BSOD, IRQL
message... stopping me in my tracks when the devices are being loaded on the
Windows installation screen.
