Bootup problem?

Hello,

I am running WinXP Pro and recently encountered a bootup problem. The
boot sequence seems to freeze when I bootup even in Safe Mode. I can
get back to WinXP by selecting the last working configuration during
the bootup process. I also noticed that when booting in Safe Mode, the
freeze seems to be in the middle of booting all the .sys files.

I ran CCleaner and Regedit without success.

Does anyone know what I might try to fix the problem?

Thanks,

Bob

Because the Windows XP can still start by reverting to the last known
good working configuration, do a system restore to the date just prior
to the onset of the bootup problem. Next, figure out how the problem
got started, such as via a Windows or Microsoft update, driver update,
new application, etc.

Thanks. The only change prior to this problem is that I had Comcast
install a new phone connection that runs over their cable. There was
no software installed but a new modem that can handle both internet
connections and phones was installed.

Does this suggest what might be wrong?

Thanks,

Don't know what to tell you. Not familiar with Comcast's equipment. Is
the telephone connection a VoIP setup? Generally, if the problem occurs
after Comcast made an installation change, they should be the ones who
do the troubleshooting.
