When booting from floppy, what file starts Windows 2000? There does
not seem to be a win.com. TIA

There are usually only 3 files on a Windows 2000 floppy boot diskette:

Boot.ini
NTDETECT.COM
ntldr

Ntldr is responsible for starting the operating system.

Yep that's right
the floppy should be formatted from the machine beign used
or any NT based machine (as opposed to win9x)

With those three files on the floppy
and the bios set to boot first from the floppy,
the machine should boot right up to the GUI

A good backup to have if editing the boot.ini file
