U2's Bono offered an apology for a promotion the band ran with Apple that saw the album Songs of Innocence automatically appear on customers' iTunes accounts. In a Facebook video session responding to fan questions, Bono apologized for the promotion.

Here's what Bono had to say:

We had this beautiful idea, we got a carried away with ourselves, artists are prone to that kind of thing. Drop of megalomania, touch of generosity, dash of self-promotion, and deep fear that these songs that we poured our life into over the last few years mightn't be here. There's a lot of noise out there; I guess we got a little noisy ourselves to get through it.

The album has been downloaded over 26 million times so far, but if you're unhappy with the promo there is a removal tool that will allow you to vanquish Songs of Innocence from appearing in your iTunes purchases.
