Blue Screen with center window

Win2000 pro, upon boot up, it goes to a blue screen with a window in the
center stating, Windows error, need to install antivirus program and shows
two different names of a virus or a trojan. It also locks up the system.

Went into safe mode and the window does not appear. Any help would be
appreciated.

Do you have a virus scanner? Which one? Is it up-to-date? Have you scanned
your disk while in Save Mode?
