Blizzard has unvieled some new details surrounding the last addition to StarCraft II, Legacy of the Void. Legacy of the Void builds off of the story told in StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, and Heart of the Swarm, and places you in the role of a Protoss commander. Blizzard showed off some of the multiplayer features today at Blizzcon, and posted a new trailer for the game.
Legacy introduces some new elements into StarCraft II multiplayer. Automated tournaments run once per day at specific times. Anyone can sign up and face the challenges of the elimination rounds. Archon mode is a new mode of cooperating in multiplayer. You and another player share control over a single base against two enemies. On top of this, Legacy of the Void introduces Allied Commanders, which lets you join a friend in open-ended cooperative play. You can choose a commander from any race and fight to achieve campign-style objectives, and customize your army.
Legacy of the Void has no firm release date, with Blizzard only saying that it will be available for Mac and PC soon.
